Wellness in the workplace: the investment for the future of the company and the employee
Good to Great, by Jim Collins, and Delivery Happiness, by Tony Hsieh, inspired me when I established Widya Presisi Solusi 12 years ago in 2013. From these two books, it is clear that Good to Great requires not only great leaders but also great employees, and corporate culture is crucial. Great leaders need to walk the talk; in today's situation, it's not enough to talk without knowing how to implement. Corporate culture is crucial because every employee brings their own values, which may not align with the company's expectations when they join. However, employees' habits need to align with the corporate culture. Then, employees can work in accordance with the company's Vision and Mission. I established Widya Presisi Solusi with a Vision and Mission to become the best consultant, especially in payroll outsourcing, HR information systems, information security, and employee support. Every WPSian is expected to follow the cultural values of Widya Presisi Solusi, which are
Besides the six values mentioned above, we implement the seven habits from Stephen R. Covey to foster a corporate culture. During the outing on September 7th and 8th, 2025, WPSians practised the 7th Habit from Stephen R. Covey, "Sharpen the saw" at Curug Nangka, emphasising the value of Continuous learning to become agile and resilient.
We emphasise this theme because if we want to be a great company, we need great employees. Great employees start with every employee being healthy, both physical and spiritual. By enjoying nature, we can begin to practice walking every day, as people generally need to walk around 10,000 steps a day.
In November 2024, we began working with Inharmony Clinic to implement a flu vaccination program for all employees and an HPV vaccine program for women at WPS, aiming to maintain their health, as we believe prevention is more important than a cure. Additionally, in June 2025, we conducted a mini MCU with MyCallDoctor, and the results showed that some WPSians had not passed the test. Therefore, some WPSians require a follow-up program to normalise their blood pressure. Thus, exercising daily is essential for everyone. That is why we chose a tourism spot near Jakarta, where every WPSian can enjoy the beauty of nature while exercising.
In every outing agenda, we begin with reflection from each WPSian, encouraging them to share what they are proud of, what needs improvement, and any suggestions they may have. WPSians can learn to be open and listen to each other's expectations. From my reflection, I am very proud that WPSians have implemented Corporate Culture Value, especially their passion to work hard to fulfil the client's needs and teamwork. During free time and at the barbecue, WPSians are happy to enjoy singing and chatting with one another.
With this outing, we aim to learn from each other to be agile and resilient, as WPSians were forced to step out of their comfort zone through games. For example, I was not accustomed to sitting on the floor, and during the game, I needed to move a cup of water above my head to the other team. I needed to get used to sitting on the floor and trust listening to the team that informed me to move the water to the other team without looking at the cup. Teamwork, communication and collaboration among team members become essential. Win or lose is not significant, but being eager to try and work within one team is the most important.
It happened while walking to Curug Nangka; it was different from typical trekking, as a WPSian walked in the river with wet feet.
Based on a proposal from the outing committee, WPSians played Paintball, in which WPSians were re-challenged to step out of their comfort zone to learn how to fight the enemy. All games push WPSians to learn to be creative, open to new ideas, and dare to do what has not been done before.
In the midst of uncertainty and challenging situations, with a limited budget, we are happy to make this outing awesome. The team learns how to face uncertainty and start new habits to have a healthy lifestyle through walking and appreciating nature. The objective of walking at least 10,000 steps on September 8 has been reached, with my steps totalling 11,423 on that day. After that, each WPS needs to exercise independently to establish a new habit.
